Discover Miami’s booming neighborhoods!

Miami is rising, like other southern cities in the USA. In recent years, thanks to a favorable economic and social moment, dozens of Americans moved to the city, but generally to Florida.

Sunny Florida’s weather is enough to move there! It allowed the increase of new ideas and business that today makes Miami competitive. Isn’t it the perfect place to investigate since sunglasses are crucial there?

Let’s see which ones are the areas to definitely visit.

MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT

The Miami Design District is a Miami block that grew in the early 2000s after decades of abandonment. It’s located between Wynwood, Little Haiti, and Buena Vista.

After the revaluation, today is the place of fancy boutiques, like Balenciaga, Celine, Christian Louboutin (the first one who has opened in 2009), Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Prada, Saint Laurent, and Tom Ford. The Miami Design District holds a peculiar record, the world’s highest jewelry stores concentration rate!

Sunglasses stores are there, too, like Chrome Hearts, Oliver Peoples, and Krew. Krew is a New Orleans brand showing its uniqueness through design: the stylish camelback architecture recalls the Mississippi influences.

The area hosts famous restaurants, like the two Michelin stars L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon or the one-star vegan Le Jardinier (https://lejardinier-miami.com/). Pictures speak for themselves: these restaurants have incredible attention to detail. We also point out Sadelle’s (https://www.sadelles.com/location/kith-miami/) that recalls the vintage style of the American all-day diners.

The Design District also has a varied series of events. To participate in the upcoming events, you need to click here: https://www.miamidesigndistrict.net/calendar/

MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT AND ART BASEL

The Design District is one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in the USA, and this is a well-known fact! It’s a small world welcoming design, fashion, restaurants, and, most of all, art. Art has been one of the recent propellers of Miami’s develop. There are more than 130 galleries.

The Miami Art Basel is the most relevant event since 2002 for modern and contemporary art. The Basel Exhibition’s winter edition started in 1970, combining the art market and new ideas. Areas of interest are several, from photography, and painting, to performative arts.

The 2023 Miami Art Basel will be held between 8 and 11 December. Why is it such a relevant event? The world’s most famous art galleries come to Miami to show modern and contemporary masterpieces.

However, this traffic also offers a massive stage for emerging artists. This helps to nourish the event year after year.

MIAMI ART BASEL AND WYNWOOD

Miami is fully committed to Basel Art. Dive into this culture, exploring the areas next to the Design District. For example, Wynwood is super close, vibrating with street art. Basel Art helped to transform a Miami neighborhood that was left behind. Nowadays, Wynwood is trendy but keeps its authentic nature. Here, the Greek sunglasses brand, Kopajos (www.kopajos.com), opened its first store outside of Greece.

You know how much we love supporting local brands: we’re proud Kopajos is sharing the Made in Greece concept worldwide. As we say in Greek, καλή επιτυχία! Wynwood also hosts international sunglasses brands, such as Warby Parker, Illesteva, and Rayban.

Generally, businesses are betting on Wynwood because, compared to Brickell or the Design District, it’s more authentic.

BRICKELL: DYNAMIC LUXURY

Brickell area is the Miami City center, where economic and cultural activities meet. It’s why everybody calls this place the “Southern Wall Street.” The hectic lifestyle runs across Brickell’s Skyscrapers, forming the Miami skyline. You’ll be surprised that Brickell isn’t just a financial district because luxury hotels and resorts have a special place on the seaside.

The block is a desirable place where to shop. The “Brickell City Centre” (https://www.brickellcitycentre.com/) is one of the most famous malls in the world, with eclectic brands. They have swimsuits from Villebrequin, Sundek, and Bikini Society, where you can find Kopajos Sunglasses and sunglasses store like Warby Parker and Illesteva.

Brickell City Centre is where to enjoy all day, thanks to cafes, restaurants, and even a movie theatre!

In Brickell, you will find terrific restaurants, like the experimental Elcielo, well known for molecular gastronomy. It’s a journey of the senses because you’ll use them all together, starting with touch. The menu features “Chocotherapy”, an immersion in the gastronomic culture of Colombia, the country of origin of chef Juan Manuel Barrientos. They will pour chocolate on your hands, which you will taste directly with your fingers; we guarantee an explosion of flavors that will awaken the senses at the beginning of your meal.

A unique feature of Brickell is its waterfront location. With panoramic views of Biscayne Bay and easy access to white sand beaches, the neighborhood combines the best of urban and coastal environments. The parks along the coast offer green spaces where you can relax and enjoy the sea breeze, creating a balance between city life and moments of tranquility.
